Security Clearance speeds process?

I am new to this forum and apologize if this topic has already been posted, but can anyone tell me if the CHL process goes any faster if a person already has a government clearance? The FBI does a complete background check on me every 5 years.
I would appreciate any input.
Thanks,

It's not the FBI that's doing your background check, it's the DPS.
The DPS Troopers do the background.
Actually, the more rain we have, the faster the applications are to be processed.

ditto. Your Gobment clearance will have no effect.

Actually that may be better news. Takes about 18 months for the other investigation.
I really appreciate the prompt inputs. Very nice forum.

Can you go up to Salt Lake City to do that dance too? I hear those Utah DPS investigators are getting a little behind.

this may be a completely retarded question, but, here goes anyway:
does the rain really make the processing go faster? If so, why?

Because it keeps everyone inside instead of 2-hour lunches and smoke breaks.
In short, I think he was joking.

Shhh (you're not supposed to tell me he was joking)

I'm pretty sure he wasn't; you see this in a lot of industries when the nonsmokers quit taking smoke breaks and similar occurrences due to the weather.

Ah, that actually makes a lot of sense. I actually had presumed he was joking originally, but, hey, if it works, it works, and bully for all of us!
now, if they'd only process mine a wee bit fastah!

I'm a non-smoker. I always noticed that smokers had a lot of slack about "breaks", while I was expected to be on the clock for eight straight.
One time I sauntered down to the "smoking area", stuck my hands in my pockets, and joined in the conversation and joking. My supervisor finally asked me what I was doing there.
"Taking a smoke break," sez I.
"But you don't smoke!" sez he.
"You're right; I don't," sez I. "But aren't we all paid the same, whether we're working on the clock, or taking smoke breaks on the clock?"
Crimson.
I knew it was a shade of red, but I don't think I'd ever seen it up close and personal until I saw his face just a few seconds later.
Point made. I'm still there, he's not. Smokers still take advantage and get "free" breaks, but so do coffee drinkers, and those with a strong urge to network, gossip, and otherwise poke their judgmental noses where they don't belong.

Heehee,
I once told the range owner I was going to start joing the smokers on their breaks. He reminded me that I don't smoke. I rebutted that I certainly did; 1 hour cigars.

T3hK1w1,
We are getting plenty of rain here in the Hill Country too. Too much. I've always heard from the old timers that there are two seasons in Texas - drought and flood. Looks like a drought is just around the corner.
It is an interesting observation that more background checks are done during the rainy periods. I guess the troopers want to stay dry too.
