UPDATE:

A suspect has been arrested and charged in last night's shooting death of a Harris County deputy.

At a press conference this afternoon, Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman announced that Shannon J. Miles, 30, a person who had been in custody since early this morning, has been arrested and charged with capital murder.

HOUSTON -- A deputy has been fatally shot at a gas station in northwest Harris County, sources tell Eyewitness News.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says the shooting happened off Telge and West.

We don't know whether anyone else was hurt in the shooting or whether any suspects are in custody.

A Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy has been shot and killed in the line of duty at West Road and Telge in northwest Houston. Preliminary information states the deputy was at a gas station when an unidentified black male shot the deputy multiple times and then fled. The suspect was in a red Ford Ranger with tinted windows.

That sickens me to read that. Hopefully they catch the perp. soon and charge him with capital murder.

The perp might also not be so lucky as to be arrested, but rather be taken in a body bag when they catch up to him. Already murdered a cop, what is there that he won't do?

What a tragic night for our friends in law enforcement. I hope justice is swift.

It's a quiet area, normally, but with quick access to 290 and Hwy 6.

Unfortunately the thug is in custody. Too bad the coward didn't resist we will be feeding this monster for a long time.

This is part of race war, 2nd incident in few days. A copy cat, or whatever is called.
Capital Punishment is on the books for those cases. Cold blood murder, execution style.

My thoughts are also, that there have been too many incidence of this type across the country to all be just coincidence.

I think you mean "a suspect" is in custody.

Since the perp was not arrested at the scene, we don't really know if this person arrested is the perp or merely a black man who happens to have a red pickup like one they were looking for.

It may be that this is the perp of course, but let the investigation and proceedings go forward before you stick a needle in his vein.

Since the suspect's mother is the one who called in the tip to police (according to media reports), I'd say confidence is high that they got the right man.

This report says the suspect's mother is saying her son is innocent. He also hasn't been charged. The cops continue looking.

I don't intend to hijack the subject so if this is not the right place MOD just delete or move.
I was on another site and the question was ask as a CHL holder would you have protected the LEO? The response was HECK YES!
There is a service station I stop at occasionally, just about everytime I stop there is a LEO gasing up. I thought about it this morning when I 1st read about it. What would I have done. I looked at the pics on the news and analyzed the sitiuation and I thought.
1. What if I responded with deadly force ? There were other cars there pumping gas, the parking in front of the place was pretty full. If I shot what would the LEO do, think I was the perp and shoot me? What if someone else with a gun thought I was shooting at the cop ?
2. Do you yell GUN ? or something else ? The LEO gets distracted anyway and still gets shot ? Then you become a target because you have drawn the perps attention and the LEOs attention.

What would you do?
