SBR finally

This started out as one of those "I almost have enough parts to..." projects. Added a few more parts over the next few months and ended up with this (118 days for e-filed stamp):

Color came from the grip and stock I already had. Painted the upper, lower, and handguard with Duracoat 208 aerosol. Turned out much better than I expected. Left the controls and other accessories black for contrast.

Parts list for the mutt.

Bushmaster upper
SAA lower
Ballistic Advantage 11.5" barrel, 1/7 twist, QPD finish
CMMG Upper and lower parts kits
Geissele SSA trigger
Osprey OPS-416 piston conversion kit
Seekins 10" MCSR V2 KeyMod (they have an M-LOK version now)
Magpul MOE K2+ grip and CTR stock - in stealth blue
Magpul MBUS sights
Meprolight Tru-Dot RDS, moved from another rifle
Huntertown Arms* Kestrel suppressor
BCM hand stop I'm trying out.
BCM Gunfighter medium charging handle

* Absolute worst customer service in the entire firearms industry--for a business that is still in business--in my opinion. But, it's paid for and has a stamp.

Edit: added better pictures

Where did you get your lower engraved?

Had an acquaintance do it on a CNC machine....which I do not recommend. Looks okay with it painted, but it was a bit shallow (within limits) and not particularly clean like good engraving. Looks a bit like light laser etching you see on some imports.

Great to view such pic posted above and how it was engraved. I wish I could also have one with my named engraved on it that once I may passed way my name shall remain in that rifle.

just wondering did you go through a trust you set up or not?

In Harris County you can't get a personal sign off, so it was the trust route. I don't know if that will change when/if the interim sheriff wins the next election or not (I guess he's continuing the last sheriff's policies or may share them).

If the ATF rule on requiring sign offs for trusts goes through that will leave a lot of Texas residents with no ability to buy/create NFA items. Let's hope we can get our legislature to remedy that with shall sign legislation, or for the governor to put it in the hands of DPS and take it out of local hands.
