Black Friday is *NUTS* LOL

I am not a Black Friday retail kind of guy. Maybe online. But, Cabela's is just a few miles away and they had their door prizes for the first 600 at the store by 5:00 this morning and I had the day off. So, I set the alarm for 4:00 and headed out. I was not one of the first 600. But for story telling's sake, I was probably only a few minutes from it. Maybe 650??? Anyway, I was there so I waited a bit and went on in. Walked around for a few minutes and went right back out the door. I think I am better suited to Cyber Monday than Black Friday! There were deals to be had, I am just not into the lines and crowds. With the line at the firearm counter, even the right gun on sale would have to have a very right price. I'll probably still line up a little earlier if they do it again next year though. There's always a chance! Hah ;)

More than 600 at Cabela's by 0500? That is nuts!

I'm told that the two outlet malls in San Marcos get so crowded the entire San Marcos police force is out directing traffic there, from last night!
I always wondered about the dance marathons back in the '30's, and perhaps pole sitting, other forms of eccentric mass behaviors, and having seen the rise of Black Friday, I don't doubt them.

They could be giving away things for free and I wouldn't go anywhere near it. No savings is worth that aggravation. They should call them Mauls instead of Malls on that day. People have died, been beat up and trampled to save a few dollars on a television.

I went to my first ever black Friday sale today. The line was reasonable and it only took me a few minutes to get 28 months of range membership for the cost of 12! They had good prices on guns, too, but one big expenditure at a time.

My wife goes every year. I went a couple times with her when she didn't have anyone else to go with but that was a few years ago when the stores opened at midnight, now that they start shortly after dinner time on Thanksgiving Ii stay home. I have never found any real deals anyway. I do all my Christmas shopping online, I looked at the Academy ad yesterday, saw some things my son wanted, (airsoft guns and a youth bow) went to Amazon and the bought the exact same items considerably cheaper than the sales prices.

This year the only things that seem to be on sale are old junk (electronics). I haven't seen anything worth getting up early for. I prefer to sleep in.
I bought a new tv a few months ago and still got a better deal then whats on sale. Just wait until after new years you will see all the this stuff even cheaper. And anyone who thinks they are getting a good deal at outlet malls are well....

I went with my wife several years ago before it got really crazy. We were about 4th in line from the checkout when the transformer blew and all of the lights went out, emergency lights came on and there we sat for about 45 minutes. Haven't been to a Balck Friday thing since.

Sounds like you really had a black Friday.

i get drug out shopping with my family every year, some deals are good most of its very average. Honestly its not that bad if you pick and choose your times, i wont go to cabelas purely because its crowded enough on a normal saturday i dont want to think about how bad black friday is.
Most stores arent bad at all provided you dont show up right at opening....we went to nebraska furniture and were in and out in under an hour checkout lines were non existent.
Bestbuy was probably the busiest place of anything but the deals were so average, amazon has everyone beat.

Only once I've thought about going to a Black Sale because in 98 they were going to give away 10 brand new PCs with Win 98 for $98. The doors open at 6am and I went by at 3am and saw the line blocks long.
Naw, I ain't that desperate.

Just wait. In the next few years, what everyone knows as "Black Friday" will be named, "Event Friday". I heard this through the gossip ladder as a logistics manager in the largest warehouse in the U.S.
I did go shopping for the first time Friday and the only deals I took advantage of were 3$ blue rays and a IWB holster which I was going to buy anyways. I did enjoy hearing other shoppers rationalize buying things they otherwise wouldn't purchase if it weren't for a Black Friday Discount

Ive read that merchants raise the price of select target items months prior in order to offer huge discounts. I also read that black Friday sales are the biggest profit day for merchants.
I dont stand in line.
