New avatar just for the occasion. I grew up and spent most of my youth in and around KC and will always be a Chiefs fan. After destroying Houston yesterday I thought they would play Denver, but noooooo. They go to New England to deflate the Patriots. Pun intented. :coolgleamA:

If they win it all the avatar might stay.

They ( Chiefs) will have to get by Denver and I don't think (or hope) that KC can beat us again, especially with Peyton back.

On the NFC side, I think AZ is the team to beat.

On a final note, GO BRONCOS

I'll never understand the love of sports teams.

First they're businesses.

I find it hard to cheer or get emotionally invested in a business, unless it's my own.

The team supposedly represents a certain city, but the players are usually from all over the world and when the season ends they head back home and I don't mean the city they supposedly represent.

People say things like "Our Team" and "We Won" (or lost) as if they were on the team.

You or We didn't win or lose anything, the business won or lost.

The other oddity about sports teams is hating supposed rivals.

Huh?

How can you hate other businesses?

Weird...

Did we just become best friends?

I agree with you mostly and there's no reason to argue over anything I disagree with because none of it matters. I've never thought any team has ever played hard or won anything for their fans. Well, with the small caveat that they did to keep the fans coming to the games and to buy their merchandise to keep their paychecks coming in. Otherwise, so what? It's fun to watch and everything else.

BTW, just curious, did you participate in any sports as a youth?

C-dub,

Got into boxing as a teenager.

I did it for myself.

Sandlot baseball.

Hardcore long distance swimming.

Long distance running. I did that for 22 years until I blew a knee.

Then I got into long distance in line skating, until the bum knee said no more. Broke my heart. I loved to skate at night in the summer.

Then go into world travel using scuba diving as a reason.

Then got into long distance sea kayaking.

I'll stop there, but there's plenty more...

And yes, I can understand sports as entertainment, but can't understand an emotional investment in it.

I guess part of me holds a wee bit of contempt for couch potatoes who are ardent, nay impassioned fans, but never really got into anything physically demanding.

Lots of cool stuff there. With all those things and no organized team type sports I kinda understand your opinion. :tiphat:
