This is about the shooter. He has a criminal past. Not sure if he would be able to buy a gun. Photos of him with an AK. Seemed to like to take photos of himself with his guns at least he pointed his finger in one.
Haven't found out if it was a gun free zone.

Per this blog, the workplace was a gun free zone. CC by employees was banned.
