DALLAS - Two armed robbers picked the wrong victim in northwest Dallas.

Police said they approached a man eating his dinner in the parking lot of Whataburger at Inwood Road and Lemmon Avenue and tried to rob him around 1 a.m.Thursday morning.

Man was an off-duty armed security guard. Would not have mattered, if LTC or not as he was in his car and could legally have a firearm.

One more for the good guys, one less for the bad ones.

With the frequency of this type of outcome from robberies in the DFW area, one would think bandits would be having second thoughts about their chosen method of victimization.

This slow learner won't be victimizing anyone ever again, but his sidekick still has a chance to learn from what happened to his cohort.

One would hope this costly lesson might straighten out the one that got away. Only time will tell. Wonder if Whataburger might rethink their carry policy now....

I just wish these stories were carried more prominently by the media, then maybe some of the left wing anti's would just sit down and shut up when asked about their reasons for wanting to disarm law abiding folks.

I hope not. They allow us to carry, but they only ask that we maintain a dress code of keeping it hidden - and they do so politely, without criminalizing it for us by posting 30.07.

Whataburger's position on guns is okay with me and their burgers are better than In-N-Out Burgers; at least, the WB in Rusk is better than the INO in Rockwall.

Unfortunately, I don't think this outcome is as common as it ought to be especially compared total robberies.

It's unfortunately not the usual outcome because there are lots of non-situationally aware sheeple to choose from and BG's are highly skilled at picking out compliant victims. After all, their lives depend on it. However, target selection errors like the one in this case aren't rare either.

The likely reason for bad outcomes not having more deterrent value is the "I'm smarter than that" and "that's not going to happen to me" convictions that are common with both BG's and good guys and girls as well. Really close calls sometimes penetrate that mental block, so there's still some hope for the escaped sidekick.
