If there ever was a case for how denying 2nd Amendment rights and elimination of the death penalty are both the highest forms of injustice, then this is it.

I am sorry this fellow was spared the chair but hopefully he made peace with the Lord before he died. He may have escaped judgment here, but no one escapes forever.

EDITED TO ADD:

Why don't people help? Because they are more afraid of the authorities than anything else. Often times, the authorities don't like "vigilantes" because if the citizenry defends themselves, it will cut into the power of bureaucrats. A vile criminal often won't get what they've earned themselves, but a law-abiding citizen with no criminal record will be raked over the coals.

Andy, I've never met you, but I thought about you as soon as I saw that news story.

I was living on Long Island (close to the city) when this occurred.
