Anyone know how to remove a stuck choke? I bought a choke tool, but it won't remove it.

It's supposed to soak into metal parts that are frozen together and unfreeze them. I was reading awhile back on another forum looking for a solution to a similar problem of two metal parts frozen together, and a bunch of people were recommending to the OP this product.

Just don't force anything, otherwise you could bugger it up beyond repair.

BTW, welcome to the forum.

I would do a couple things.

1 soak it in PB blaster for a while. Then see if you can break it free.

2 if the PB doesnt work you could try heating up the exterior of the barrel to make it expand. Have something in the barrel to help keep the choke cool, then try and remove.

Multiple posts on youtube about this. Although I have not tried this myself I would not want to heat the barrel very much as it might hurt the barrel. I would though after trying PB blaster to hopefully loosen things up buy a can of Dust Off, turn it upside down and spray the choke portion extensively to freeze it and hopefully shrink it enough to loosen it and then try to twist it out. If that fails I would go to a gunsmith and be prepared to need to replace the choke and hopefully nothing else.

Try some dry ice in the choke tube.....drink a couple of beers, unscrew the choke.

Thanks Wildman. I'll try that TAM. Chokes are cheap enough, I'm not too concerned about saving it. I got it with the choke already installed, so I have no clue how long it's been in there.

Unfortunately, there is a possibility that someone installed the choke and used a drop or two of 'Loctite' or similar thread locking product.

If so, 'Kroil' is still your best shot (no pun intended). Kroil will not dissolve Loctite but might creep under it enough to help break the bond when you attempt to remove the choke.

Hopefully, you have just metal to metal contact and the stretching forces on the threads to deal with.
