33 Years ago today HPD Detective Wayne Shirley was murdered while serving a warrant. He was a friend in high school and one of several of my friends who became police officers. His killer was convicted and sentenced to death a year later and unbelievably remains on death row to this day! In a small world twist his son married a young lady that worked for me, which I discovered when I asked if her new husband Jason Shirley was kin to Wayne. Both his sons went into law enforcement. He and my many friends in law enforcement are the reason I am a member of the 100 Club.

So sorry for the loss of your friend. It makes me angry that his killer is still using up good oxygen, instead of rotting in a grave somewhere. I'm glad to hear that his son's followed in in his footsteps, that is one of the best tributes one can have.RIP Detective Shirley.
