According to Texas Carry, the AG sent them a letter telling them they had 15 days to take down the signs at the court house.

I suspect that once other cities/ counties see that action is being taken they will start obeying the law as well.

Also, as a side note, I wish I was given that kind of time to comply when I broke the law!

There are different rules for the subjects, unfortunately.

It's unfortunate that the OAG hasn't been keeping their website for complaint letters up to date.

They seem to do them in batches, so there may be some others going/gone out that we haven't heard about yet. Would be bad form to post them on the website before the addressees get them.

I'm seriously surprised the Bell County Justice Complex was ruled in violation. It's pretty much 90% courtrooms with a few administrative areas, such as the county clerks in varying areas. Unless someone is going into the bathroom, the clerk office or library, one will find themselves violating 46.03 in a heartbeat.

this could be interesting. I wonder if it will end up affecting Guad County Courthouse. I've been saying that the front area shouldn't be signed but the whole building is because that's how they have the metal detector and purse search set up. Personally, I could rearrange it in about 15 mins.

that's the thing though, if I'm going to the clerk and I don't have to go anywhere near a courtroom I shouldn't have to disarm.

If I am looking for court records, scheduling questions, etc., I contact the county clerk's office. While I can see how the district attorney's office is not essential to court operations, how is the clerk's office not essential? In other words, if all the county clerk offices decided to shutdown operations, would courts still be able to function properly? How would a court function properly if the only employees were the judge, bailiff, and court reporter?

Very interesting. I was just in there the other day. In the lobby, there is a snack/coffee bar. You must go through the metal detector and run your bag through an x-ray machine, however, to get to it. I wonder if it could be argued that the coffee bar is essential to court function? Lol.
