Yet another 51% question

Last night I was at Red Eyed Fly in Austin to watch a band. I assumed that I could not carry due to it being a bar. While I walked in I could not find at 51% sign anywhere, so can I carry or not?

I did not just to be careful to not get in trouble, but I was just wondering....

You were probably right in your assumption that since its a bar you cannot carry.

Remember, the business does not need to post a 51% sign for it to be a legal posting. It could be 51% and not posted, although the business is out of compliance it is still off limits to us.

someone posted on here somewhere to look at their liquor license that has to be posted visibly. If it's Red they're 51%, if blue you're ok... but i still wouldnt carry in a bar.

Almost, but not quite right. The color of the license makes no difference. On the license will be a line saying "Sign=Red" or "Sign=Blue". This is saying whether they need the red 51% sign or the blue "No unlicensed carrying" sign.

And the rule is not just if it is a bar. Many clubs are not 51% because of the income from admission and cover charges. Sell nothing but alcohol, but charge for the privilege of overpaying for the alcohol, so they are not 51%.

another prime example, is The Palladium Ballroom, located in sunny Dallas, Texas.
I went there not long ago, and was told by the Tool at the door that
1. Once you enter, if you leave, you may not re-enter (so I couldn't check the signage)
2. "We wouldn't let anybody in with a gun." how would they know if it was concealed....

but they didn't wand anyone, and, as a matter of happenstance, they had the "Unlicensed Possession blar blarty blar"
so good times.
