Just buy a gen 2 and save your money then. The changes on this Glock are minimal at best.

Just what I know so far, without going over one myself:

New recoil spring assembly (longer)
New barrel lug (further back)
New rifling
New pin setup (only 2 now)
New locking block
New ambi slide release
New slide cut for right side slide release interface
New thicker recoil spring interface... area... thing... under the muzzle...
New striker block plunger (now like the G43)
New trigger return spring setup (Also 43)
New trigger bar
New trigger housing to accommodate the new trigger setup
New front strap (no finger grooves, front half moon cutout returns from 3rd gen)
New beveled front slide (Like the 26/27 and 34/35)
New slide lock position (~1/4 inch further back)
New Mag base (looks to have what the FBI RFP calls a "toe")
New mag bevel or flare as outlined in the FBI RFP
New option to have an extended mag release per the FBI RFP
New option to have an extended ambi slide release per the FBI RFP

Yep... minimal.

There are more differences here than between 2nd and 3rd gens, and even more than between 3rd and 4th gens.

I wonder if this new version will be available to the public. I might want to finally get a 9mm.

When they went from Gen 3 to Gen 4, they had a lot of "improvements", like the recoil spring assembly and extractor updates, that ended up needing a lot of people to send their pistols back to glock to get them to function properly (brass to face). I had the problem start to occur after about 2000 rounds through my glock 26 gen 4, except I was getting failure to eject as well. Ended up replacing the extractor and spring loaded bearing for Gen 2 versions of those, and it solved my issue.

Just cause they are changing up the internals does not equal improvements. And that is coming from someone who carries a glock every day, by choice.

Things I actually see as improvements:
ambi slide release
slide lock position
flared magwell

Are you talking about the bar pulled down to release the slide for field stripping? Or the slide lock?

Oh. It's a Glock.

This can't be right. We've read nothing but gushing, fabulous reviews of Glocks for years, and everybody knows the Glock is THE finest handgun in history, the ultimate of perfection, with neither fault nor flaw. Almost all police departments, the armed forces and even SEALS have gone to Glock.

So, what's all this blather about "improvements?"

Improvements or not. ... to all my glock fan boys, we all know we'll buy one as soon as it becomes available to the public.

Changes may be minimal and for Lock-n-load, I would love to buy a Gen 2 Model 19 if I could find one, but around my parts, they are unobtanium. Can find used Gen 2 Model 22s all day long at great prices. Hope Glock will make this model availble for sale and allow it to be on the list for LEO/1st Responder pricing.
