One woman murdered, 4 other people were wounded as an unknown man just fires into a crowd at 2 am on 6th street in Austin Texas. Apparently the bars were closing and the streets were filled with people. No motive for the shooting, the people shot did not know the man.
My Austin friends are all anti gun and are not happy this morning.
I would suspect all businesses on 6th street are 51% alcohol so no one could carry a gun to shoot back. But in this situation shooting back might even hurt more people.
The words my friends are using for this is Wild West.

I am sure by the time that the Austin media is done with this, open carry will be to blame.

'witnesses' say it was 'random'...how is shooting someone ever 'random'?

The typical wording by the media has always bothered me also. It was selecting victims at random, not randomly discharging a firearm that results in injury or death. One is murder, the other is accidental even though it is unlawful.

"Arbitrary" would probably be a better adjective when someone wants to shoot someone and they don't care who. Although it remains to be seen if this was really "arbitrary" or the thug doing the shooting did in fact have a specific person in mind (and possibly missed).

According to the latest updates on the link, it sounds like they have ID the shooter, and issued a warrant. with previous felony convictions, he would not be a "legal" gun owner.
The left always try to blame crimes like this on the law abiding gun owners, or "lax" gun laws, and then grow strangely quiet when it is proven to be a street thug with a felony record, who didn't buy his gun through a gun show "loophole", but instead circumvented every gun law on the books. That doesn't fit their agenda.
Of course if he is cornered, shoots at the police and gets killed, he will suddenly become a choir boy.

Got the guy in Atlanta.
No surprises. Several felony convictions.
