A very satisfactory ring! Thanks for posting Andy. :tiphat:

What kind of optics do you have on that rifle?

As soon as I opened the thread the thought that went through my head was, they are shooting Casper the Friendly Ghost. Glad to see I wasn't the only one with that thought.

Very nice setup. Shooting long range is something I haven't done yet. Plan to get to it some day.

AndyC wrote:I went out to my friend Rockie's property out in W. Texas Fri evening for a dove hunt, but I was actually more excited to try out the new 42" tall steel target (3/8" AR500 steel) I'd bought for him.

He and some friends have started to set up the lower section of his land as a shooting range (using the natural terrain, no bulldozing lanes or anything) and I wanted him to have something decent. I also wanted to have something of a known height so I could practice my ranging skills using the mil reticle on my Vortex scope... anyway, one of the guys said that with the bolt-holes at the top of the target it looked like Casper the Friendly Ghost, so that target is now officially known as Casper:

It was one heck of a job getting it there - a very steep grade and the stones were like stepping on marbles, so a lot of slipping, sliding and some (very mild) profanity occurred before we finally got it in place.
Very Coo, Andy. Thanks for sharing. How's the dove hunting going?

Shooting steel is way more fun than punching holes in paper, my opinion. I shot IHMSA for 10 years, the first ram you hit at 200 meters sure brings a smile.
