Shoots like a Girl...............

I overheard a friend of mine at work telling a co-worker that he went shooting with a group of guys last weekend and that one of the fellas was real nice but
"He shot like a girl".
I was barely able to "let it pass"....but managed somehow.
First of all,
"Shoots like a Girl" doesn't mean what it used to!
Here is my daughters CHL proficiency test target:
There were 18 students in the class that day, only 4 managed perfect scores. Hers was the tightest group of all shooters (including an LEO) and she hasn't shot in 3 years. The instructor gives away a ball cap to all who shoot perfect scores. She did cut the 9 line with a couple, but still bested all other shooters. Another of the perfect scores was also by an older lady (two men, two ladies).
I'll bet there are more than a few men here that have been "out-shot" by a female at one time or another. It is sometimes hard to get them to admit it, because we males tend to think that we come down the birth canal knowing how to ride, rope, shoot, spit and cuss.
Having trained several hundred people to shoot, I find that females often do better than the males...because they will take instruction, ask questions, and don't let "ego" get in their way. They also display better hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills.
The females may not have as much interest in taking their shooting skills to higher levels (many stop at intermediate levels), but they are certainly capable of doing so.
So guys, next time you're tempted to use that old phrase "Shoots like a girl", you might want to compare targets.
Lets support our ladies!

Anyone who tells my wife she shoots like a girl is going to find out how a girl shoots.

I wonder if the guy ever heard of Annie Oakley. I've never met a woman that couldn't shoot better than most men.

When you move from pistols to long guns the playing field evens out better still.
As previously stated, women may not stay with the shooting disciplines as long as their male counterparts. So, ultimately they may not achieve the same level of proficiency as most of the men, but is not because they are not capable, it is because they stop.
More and more..... women are getting training that was not available (to anyone) a couple of decades ago (or at least they didn't seek it out).
Those who do seek out training seem to do quite well. I have had many more men scare me to death with poor shooting habits and gun handling than any of the women have.
So, again....I say "Shoots like a girl doesn't mean what it did in the past".
I'm pretty proud of the ones I've had the pleasure to train and shoot with.
Keep up the good work Gals!

"Have you ever been outshot by a girl/woman?"
Yep, by my own grandmother. She rarely shoots, holds the rifle all wrong, holds her head all wrong....
And can hit stuff I can't.
I'd say I'm a better shot than my mother, but she might be reading this...

After new shooters watch Donna's first scenario at a match, they are all wishing they could "shoot like THE girl."

I dunno...Looks like its going to be hard to wear those ballcaps with that target stapled to the back of them...
People will notice...Start to talk...Whispers of...
"She shoots like a girl!"
Scandalous I tell you, just scandalous!
