Went out and shot about 100 rds of 230 gr FMJ out of my M&P45 - I have always loved the gun and shot it well - But, today after about 50 rds the gun started to hurt my wrist - still kept the rounds where I needed them but it was not a pleasant shooting session today.

Looks like I am gonna have to wuss out and get some sort of 9 mm because I can't handle the recoil of prolonged shooting with my 45 ACP rounds.

Man I hate getting old.

It's not the .45 230 Gr that is the problem, it's all that plastic that doesn't tame the recoil.

The nice thing is, if you like the M&P 45, you will love the M&P 9mm.

Easier recoil

I wouldn't say you are. I went from a HK USP 40 to a Glock G30 which is 45. Where I used to live before I came back here I would shoot once a month in the indoor GSSF matches. Some of the courses of fire included firing support hand, once handed strong hand, and one handed support hand. All of these are timed and you only have X amount of time to fire 10 rounds. The time varied on the distance.

After using the G30 for awhile I used my wife's G19. I found I could shoot faster, more accurately, and had faster follow ups. I used her gun a few more times and decided to get myself a G19 and it has become my carry gun. I used to be 100% against a 9mm but now with modern technology and with the release of new designs such as the Federal HST I feel comfortable carrying a 9mm. Ammo has come a long ways since the old HydraShoks. Being able to shoot better is more important than saying all you'll shoot is a 45 and 9 is worthless. It's not being a wussy it's just being smart.

It's not the .45 230 Gr that is the problem, it's all that plastic that doesn't tame the recoil.

Try out a full size, all metal gun like a 1911. Of course, there is also nothing wrong with 9mm.

I used to shoot 44 mag most of the time, but now it's mostly 45, 10 mm, and 9 mm. I do notice the difference that age makes.
