42 States Shifted to the Right in 2016

Hint: Texas wasn't one of them.

I'm not a huge fan of the NYT, but I have to admit, the interactive graphics on this story are among the best at telling a story that I've seen in a long time. It shows how each state has shifted left and/or right in presidential politics.
Caveat: I viewed this on a computer, rather than on a tablet or i-device, so I cannot imagine how it would work on those. On the PC, however, you can move your mouse over the graphic, and it will highlight a state's historical political trajectory to show which way it has shifted over the years.
Don't try to stay at the top of the chart - it works just as well (or even better) in the body of the chart as the lines are more separated from each other, and easier to select one-at-a-time.
Texas has a very wide line, because of our number of electoral votes. You can clearly see how we shifted left for Obama's first election (although we stayed on the right side), then further right for Obama II, but then back to the left again for this week's contest.

- Bush v Kerry: +23%
- Obama v McCain: +12%
- Obama v Romney: +16%
