Double Stack .45

I am curious about one of these and considering purchasing one in .45 acp. I just want to see what you guys think about it. Good? Bad? But cant be ugly huh? I would want it for EDC. If so, any thoughts on a good one? I know its subjective but maybe some of you have good experiences with a few certain ones?
My thinking is this; I carry a 9mm with 8+1 and have a spare mag in my vehicle which would be the same size. Why wouldnt I want a double stack? On paper, seems to make sense. I also know the average encounter comes nowhere near the double stack's capacity but ya never know right?
Help me spend my money. LOL. Santa Clause is coming soon.

Buy suspenders.
Then buy a para-ordnance double stack.
Seriously, you wont want to EDC it.....

I am kinda in the same boat. I have a double stack 9mm sub compact and have been thinking a single stack 45, either an XDS 45 or a Shield 45. Now that I have done some research, I just might be switching to a double stack 45. I really like the Springfield Armory XD Mod 2 sub compact 45. It holds 9+1 in the flush mount mag and 13+1 in the extended mag. I carry my double stack 9 with no problems so I am thinking the double stack 45 will present zero problems also.

13+1 is about the quantity I was thinking. I already have 8+1 so a bump of 1 or 2 doesnt add that much. I also forgot to mention I want a manual safety. I do like the 1911's a lot.
Overalls on order! But I wouldnt need a pistol then huh? LOL.

I have a Springfield Armory XDm in .45 ACP. It's double stack, 13 rounds in the magazine plus one in the chamber, and I love it. I don't generally carry it, however. I carry a .45 ACP XDs, which holds only 5 + 1. It's lighter and more easily concealable.

Oops. Neither XD has a manual safety. (Corrected)

In that case, I gotta give a shout to a great Texas company, STI. Their 2011 guns--same manual at arms as the 1911--originally began as a solution for IPSC/USPSA competitive shooters. The grip circumference is barely larger than a full-size 1911, and they have some very, very sweet shooters in their catalog.

Depending on the mag you choose, .45 ACP capacity is 10, 12, or 14. One that's on my personal wish list is their Tactical DS 2011,

That looks sweet Skiprr. I like this from their description: "The difference of its steel frame feels heavier in the hand and the felt recoil is subdued". I can see why its on the list. I dont know if I could turn something that nice into my EDC. I would cry like a baby if it got scratched! I do like the fact they are not only made in the USA, and from Texas makes it even more attractive. I will have to put that on my BBQ list. Thanks
I wonder how many others carry nice firearms like that for their EDC?

I've owned a XDM45-Compact 3.8 for a while now. It's a nice gun and shoots real well......quite accurately, actually. I haven't carried it for a while since I went to carrying 9mm almost exclusively. But that said, it is about the size of a G19, a little bit heavier, and has a 9+1 round capacity with the short mag, and 13+1 with the long mag.

The OP is not clear what he wants.
Please specify.
1) OC, CC (OWB under a jacket), IWB, or deep concealment?
2) Maximum Barrel length and pistol size that you are looking for?
3) All Steel, or Polymer Frame?
4) SA trigger (1911), Striker or SA/DA?
All the above configurations are possible with a high capacity, double stack magazine.
Option:
1) 2011 commander size.
2) FNX-45 double stack(14 or 15 rds)
3) Para P45-14
4) XDM
5) Glocks
But seriously why you need to go with 45ACP with double stack for EDC?

A HK P30 or VP9, CZ SP-01, or SIG P320 Compact or Beretta PX4 Compact are excellent choices for EDC.

Wrong. 13 + 1 45 acp. I carry just about every day.

I'm not looking for full size, something I would CC IWB most of the time. So a sub compact would probably be best. I dont think I care if its polymer or not, unless someone tells me its not a good idea. I do like 1911 but not absolutely set on it if another pistol fits the bill better.
