MN: Homeowner charged with manslaughter for shooting at home invasion suspects

Post by Bitter Clinger »

A Minnesota homeowner is facing manslaughter charges after he told police he shot at a group of men who had tried breaking into his home, and one of the suspects later died in the hospital:

Shooting before they were driving away would have been a better idea.

Funny, it doesn't say anything about the crooks being arrested.
God and the soldier we adore,
In times of danger, not before.
The danger gone, the trouble righted,
God's forgotten, the soldier slighted.

It's Minnesooooota!

One of most liberal states in the union.

They don't like folks to stand up for themselves...

There must be more to this story. 10 feet away and couldn't hit a tire, but hit the BG instead?
Do what you say you're gonna do.

:iagree:

yeah, that thought, among others, popped into my head as I read the story. Unless he was shooting from the 2nd floor balcony and was trying to shoot an offside tire through the passenger cabin......

He would have problems even in Texas. I don't know that he would be convicted by a jury in Texas.

If you are going to "case" a home (yea, right- they were there to rob it) you should accept the fact that you could get shot. I'm sure if the door wasn't locked they would still have left.

I hope the homeowner walks.

This case is a perfect example of why you keep your mouth shut until you have legal representation.

"According to the charging documents, Pettersen told the dispatcher he fired his handgun at a gray car that was leaving his property after an attempted burglary."

Well... :banghead:

The city is not a concrete jungle. It is a human zoo.
