TR100 FORMS

Guys,

I just got off the telephone with the CHL staff member that answered the telephone. The lady checked my status for me since it had been day 51 and no word yet. She told me the following:

"Your TR100 was incomplete so we extended the deadline another 60 days." I asked her if I am supposed to submit another one and she told me, "No, that form is OK now." She would not offer further information.

I just checked my TR100 copy and everything is filled in and signed correctly. The only thing I see that could be wrong is that the space for "Student Number" is a different string of numbers than my "CHL Application Number."

My question: Is student number and application number one and the same?

I never was notified by the CHL instructor or DPS about this problem and that was nearly a month ago.

Suggestions? Hurry up and wait for another 60 days? I emailed my CHL instructor at Lone Star Handgun and I do not know when he will respond to let me know if he in fact corrected the form. Apparently nothing else was wrong at that time.

Thanks for your assistance.

Hoppes,

In light of your issue, I took a look at the copy of my TR-100. The form requests a "student driver's license number" and there's also a pre-populated space calling for the "student's certificate number" (this number was pre-printed on my form and appears to be unrelated to my CHL app. number). I know that CHL instructors have to pay $5 to the state for each TR-100 that they issue; thus, the student certificate number is probably pre-matched to each form, instead of individual students...its likely just a mechanism for DPS to track each of these expensive documents!

The form does not request the CHL app. number of the student, although I took it upon myself to handwrite my app. number in the upper corner of every submitted document that didn't already have my app. number printed on it. I did this on the advice of some of the members here.

Maybe the instructor's number or range number is incorrectly written on the form. Either way, I'm sorry that this happened to you, dude...but it'll get corrected pretty quickly.

DPS may have called or written the instructor who cleared up whatever issue the form created.

The certificate numbers are assigned to instructors. When you submit the TR100, DPS makes sure that # was assigned to the instructor listed on the form, and compares that to the class completion form we have to fill out listing the students names, DL numbers, cert # and whether you pass/fail.

TXI,

Apparently, the CHL Instructor found the error in his database and sent in the information to DPS and called them. He recently sent by hard copy. I am in the revolving files and looks like I should be granted lifer status or retirement in the "Waiting Room".

I hope it eventually gets worked out.
