Barcode no longer needed?

I am told second-hand that DPS no longer requires that barcode to be sent in with the CHL-100. I have not heard that directly from RSD. Does anyone know anything about that?

Thanks.

I haven't heard this officially, but I haven't used it after my initial license (1x LTC renewal; 2x Instructor Renewals) with no issues. I'm thinking everything with the application/renewal that is uploaded on the web page is tied to your DL # for the DPS' purposes, and the only thing the Trace Number (under the bar code) is useful for is associating your fingerprint appointment request to your LTC (or renewal, if new prints are required).

I should have been more specific: this is not about me, but about students getting a license the first time. I tell them to send the barcode with the CHL-100, but one of them called DPS, and was told that is no longer needed.

Molly mentioned in Florence that it was no longer required, but I advise students to send it in anyway in case there is a discrepancy in what the DPS asks for vs the checklist. They can throw it away if they want. One of the bulleted items on the checklist is, the checklist.

It's never been required. if someone applies as standard or senior citizen & born in USA, they only need to send CHL-100.
