Ohio -- anyone up on the gun laws there?

I know I cannot carry my handgun in Ohio. My cousin told me it was legal to carry a handgun in the trunk of my car while in the state, but I would rather read the law for myself. The only information I found on one of the state of Ohio websites said an unlicensed resident could carry an unloaded firearm in the truck of their car when transporting.

That did not answer the question about an out of state traveler and was not really the law I was reading it was a statement on a webpage. I have emailed the Ohio DPS with my question, but have not received a reply.

Anybody researched this for their own knowledge and know the answer?

Try this link, http://www.ag.state.oh.us/le/prevention ... /index.asp

Also, here is a link for US handgun laws in each state.

Ohio recognizes non-resident licenses issued by Utah and Florida. If you have the time or inclination to apply for one of those, your carry problem is solved.

I think I found the information I need here:

http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/2923.16

I will just put my unloaded handgun into the lock box that is chained to my spare tire holder in the trunk of my car. It appears that it would be legal for me to transport my gun in the state that way.
