According to the six-count indictment, 46-year-old Julia Poff mailed explosives to Governor Greg Abbott, President Barack Obama and Commissioner of the Social Security Administration Carolyn Colvin on Oct. 12, 2016.

Other court documents say Gov. Abbott opened the package, but it failed to explode because he didn't open it right. If opened correctly, documents say "it could've caused severe burns and death."

This happened on 12 Oct 2016. Never heard a word about it until now. Odd. And unless the guv fired DPS as his security, I think they have some 'splaining to do.

Eh. Folks open packages and envelopes differently that expected sometimes. My typical method of opening envelopes is to either tear off or cut off the end and then slide the contents out rather than the long top where it was folded over and sealed.

I wouldn't say he opened it improperly. He just opened it differently than expected.

Alas, irony fails.

Also, yes it's interesting that the Gov opens his own mail. Maybe not after 12 Oct 2016 tho.
