San Marcos, Texas: Cop shot dead in line of duty while serving warrant

A police officer in San Marcos, Texas, was shot and killed Monday afternoon when he was serving a warrant, police said.

Officer Ken Copeland, a veteran of the San Marcos Police Department since March 1998, was serving a warrant in the El Camino Real subdivison of the city when he was fatally shot, Police Chief Chase Stapp confirmed during a press conference Monday night.

Wow. I live in San Marcos and was just coming back from Austin when I saw 30+ cops headed toward Austin.

I saw this tragic news as I opened my latest notification from the 100 Club for Trooper Damon Allen. I'll be looking for this one now. Prayers for his family.

Suspect should get the death penalty. Hopefully he does not plead out to avoid the needle!

The "needle" is too good a way to go. Hanging or the firing squad might fit the crime.

The "needle" is too good a way to go. Hanging or the firing squad might fit the crime.
Firing squad is a much better, cheaper and humane way to execute criminals in my opinion. Plus, noone knows who did the deed. Win-win
