Belt Recommendations

I've decided it is time to buy a good belt (or two) for CC use. I have a CTAC IWB holster, a Desantis OWB leather belt slide holster and a K&D Maverick Defender on order, which I hope to see in a few weeks.

I'd like to buy a 1.5" black leather belt that will work with all three holsters.

Any suggestions for an "off the shelf" work belt that will suffice?

Or, am I going to have to shell out $80 to $100 for a "gunbelt"?

If so, what would you recommend?

Wilderness Instructor belt......you will not regret it! I know....it isn't leather, but it supports the weight better in my case. I have heard raving reviews of the new Wilderness belt with a plastic insert.

I second the Wilderness Belt! But I'm looking for a good leather belt, too.

The Good: The Wilderness Instructor belt with the plastic insert is top notch, and easily supports 3 O'clock hip carry IWB for a Beretta 92 (heavy) or HK USP (bulky), virtually no sag or movement. It's stiff, but fits great. Be sure to read the sizing instructions before you purchase.

The Bad: The belt, with the insert, is THICK, particularly between 1-3:00, where you wrap the velcro back. I have a pretty Desantis that I'd have to carve up just to get on the belt. (I have a belt without the insert that isn't as thick, so I wear that when I go OWB.)

The Ugly: I like the looks, but my supervisor thinks it looks like I'm going camping  We compromised, and I wear it any day I'm going to the range after work (3 days this week, so far ;-) ) If you want to wear something with slacks or a suit, this probably isn't the right choice.

Here is maybe the best deal you will ever find.
http://looperlawenforcement.com/ The reinforced holster belt is on sale for $29.95!!!!!
If you go to http://www.looperleather.com and look at the "KYDEX BELT" you will see they give a lifetime replacement warranty on this belt.
I will admit I don't own one, but I have read good commenmts about them on other forums.
I personally have two Don Hume B109L belts I bought from Red Diamond, http://www.reddiamondonline.com/SearchR ... L&All=True These belts are on sale for $34.99. Note! I waited several months for delivery. I think Red Diamond doesn't stock the belts but has them drop shipped from Don Hume and it is slow!!
They are fine belts.
A good gunbelt makes all the difference in carrying!

but I see it is a leetle more expensive than the $40 I paid for mine last December.

I have had a great experience with a belt that I ordered form http://www.thebeltman.net.

I like it enough that I am ordering one in a different color as well.

I would second both the Wilderness and the Aker. I have one of each. I would rank the Wilderness above the Aker though. The Wilderness is just great.

Starrbuck,
Send them an email and ask. It is available in 1 1/4,1 1/2, 1 3/4, 2, 2 1/4. I don't know if you have a choice on the $29.95 special or if they just come in one width.
If you buy one, let us know how you like it!

Anyone know if the Looper Kydex belts have removable buckles? I sent them an e-mail, but have not heard back.

TIA.

I'll second this. I just got mine several days ago, and WOW. I got a 1.5" bullhide belt with a stiffener. It's absolutely amazing how much of a difference it makes. I can even undo my belt buckle when I'm relaxing at home and my holster and gun don't fall off as they would with a normal belt. Instead of belt tension holding the holster taut, the belt simply is stiff enough to hold it upright anyway. What this means is that I don't have to cinch my belt extra tight to properly carry my Hi-Power in an OWB rig anymore. I just have to simply tighten the belt to normal tightness, and everything stays put. It may not be an off-the-shelf thing, but a these custom-made gun belts are worth every penny they cost.

Looks confusing. Seems as if you are getting as many suggestions as posts. Everyone has there favorites. I'll thrown another log on the fire. My favorite and the one I've worn for almost 2 years is made by Rafter S gunleather. What I like about it is that most belts have only five holes. The rafter S belt has seven that are spaced closer together. Make for a more fine adjustment.

A buddy has a Comp-Tac belt and seems very satisfied. It tapers at the buckle so it seems like it will be more comfortable for us guys with more than our share of gut overhang. It will probably be my next belt

I bought a Gould and Goodrich belt and really like it.

I paid $35.00.

It not only does a great job of holding my Glock 19, but it also looks very nice.

I would look for it on line. I bought mine from a mail order Texas supplier, that said I had to pay tax on it. If you buy it out of state that won't be an issue and if they pay the freight...
