The article does say that some of those passed through were later checked. Of course it doesn’t mention how many of those checked were revoked.

A government employee was lazy? I'm shocked. SHOCKED!

Wonder what that employee was doing for over a year? Well, we know what they were not doing.

They are revoking hundreds, probably more.

Probably revoking hundreds that would have passed the background check had the employee performed it. Are they refunding the money? FL licenses are expensive.

Amazing that Florida passes some new restrictive gun laws, many of which are ridiculous such as their school marshal program, 3 day waits, and yet they are not capable of even doing the basics of a background check.

On the other hand, maybe someone was promoting constitutional carry.

I wonder what percentage of Texas applications fail for non-criminal reasons. There are, or have been, clear process issues in Florida that allowed this lack of a proper check to occur. It seems like a simple checklist before issuance would catch a lack of confirmation.
