I'm going to be taking classes out by there all this week. If some one doesn't chime in by the time I logout tonight Ill drive by and take a look. I just hope I don't see a bunch of water. Maybe it will be good to go and we will actually get a match done.

Drove by today on the way to Sam's. It's still under water. The only way to get in is by boat.

Well I drove by there just now and the water is like almost to the top of the tables down by where we shoot IDPA. I would say it definatly going to be awhile before we do any shooting there.

Ya know, I wouldn't have caught that if you hadn't mentioned it. That's just too funny!

Aw, man......I was really hoping with all this hot weather lately we'd be good to go this weekend or maybe even wednesday night  I guess I'll have to go to the Mesquite Gun Show this weekend to drown my sorrows in a new Beretta pistol. That should cure my blues!!!

I am VERY disappointed by this news.

One day...

For a newbie to IDPA shooting it feels like I am going to be back to square one.

Forgive my ignorance, but where did the water come from? It hasn;t rained in weeks!

The core of engineers are opening the dam cause Lake Lewisville is still above normal. Every time they do it floods Elm Fork.

So it's above normal, isn't that a good thing?

One would think.

Good thing up to a point. I think they generally like to keep some margin. At this point, they probably don't have the margin they want so they are still releasing water. Sure hope they stop soon. Elm Fork is where I go most of the time. I miss shooting outdoors.

Typically, dams are designed to hold back a specific amount of water. If the water levels get too high, you run the risk of the increase in water pressure overwhelming the dam and causing it to fail, which would of course be a bad thing. That's when they tend to open the flood gates to start bleeding off the excess water and with it the excess pressure. I don't have any idea if this is what's going on at Lake Lewisville, but it would be my guess.
