There are some things in life that are just so incomprehensibly stupid, that there are not words enough to describe the level of stupidity. This story doesn’t exactly refute Darwin.

Yeah, she shot true, but it turns out that a phone book won’t stop a .50 AE from a few feet away.......which was a no-brainer. Talking his girlfriend into shooting him to death was a no-brainer too.

Sorry his stupidity cost him his life and has probably permanently scarred his girlfriend's psyche. Sadly he has procreated and there may be an addition to that end of the gene pool.

He *might* have had a chance against a .22, not that any sane person would even risk that, but for crying out loud a .50 AE? Wow.

Something like this happened in an episode of the Sopranos. The mobsters were trying to scare some woman into paying up and shot her through a phone book, which in the show stopped the bullet (I don't remember what kind of gun was depicted, probably a Glock 9mm). Of course they ended up killing her later anyway.

I wonder if that is where he got this idea from? Meanwhile I am just sitting here in total disbelief of such an idiotic thing to do. WOW!

I really feel sorry for her, how do you explain to your kids when they're older, that you killed their father?

I searched to see if any video anywhere on net suggested the book would stop the bullet out of a desert eagle. Strange enough, there are several videos of people shooting everything from phone books to refrigerators and in every video, the bullet went through. One video shows the bullet penetrating two phone books and then going into a hard cover book before stopping.

The kid could have simply did some minor research and found he was basically committing suicide. By the way, the incident happened a year ago. What on earth what you searching for to have this story pop up?

Yes, the homicide happened a year ago. This was new video that just came out, and I saw the link to it on Drudge or Facebook, or something.
