Lot of gun deaths for a country with no guns.
117 murders still small by comparison to Houston or Dallas. (269 in Houston in 2017)
Maybe they can start a knife buyback.

I guess in England dying from a terrorist attack doesn't count? Is that supposed to be comforting to the victims families?

Enhanced stop and search powers to be introduced...
Cressida Dick, the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police...said the failure to introduce laws which allow officers to use facial recognition technology to catch “bad guys” has left her officers “hamstrung”. She added that the battle against violent crime would be easier with funding for more officers.
Ok, so instead of taking responsibility, the Metropolitan Police want more money, fewer civil rights, no privacy, and to treat everyone as a criminal.
Apparently on the theory that everyone living in
Prison Is Safer than the City Streets
Living in prison is no guarantee of safety:
In 1980, the homicide rate in state prisons was 54 inmates per 100,000. The homicide rate for the general population in 1980 was 10.2 per 100,000.
And the total death rate/suicide rate is a lot higher:
In 2010, 42 jail inmates per 100,000 killed themselves—far more than the nationwide suicide rate of 12.4 per 100,000.
because living in jail is no fun at all...

I am sorry this information cannot possibly be correct. I have read from liberal pundits, to politicians, and posters on this very board that gun/weapon laws save lives. Clearly these stats are part of greater vast right wing conspiracy to discredit leftists.

London, one of the greatest cities in the world has been overtaken and ruined by politicians who won't listen to their constituents because they know best.
In their elitist opinion, the hoi-polloi can stuff it.
Politicians know what's best for them.
They know what's best right into the ground until yes, it's too late.
The ruin will then be decried as not their fault. They didn't know the horrible result of their terrible decisions (all the while being warned) wasn't something they could possibly anticipate.

As CBS News partner network BBC News reported, London saw its first homicide of April on Monday night, when a 17-year-old girl was fatally shot near her home in Tottenham, north London, "for no reason at all," according to a friend who arrived on the seen quickly.
How can this be? I thought since they banned guns that all the bad guys would have turned them in by now.
