So he showed some statistical evidence of that from the states that have UBC's? :headscratch

My prediction would be that any decrease would be coincidental and too small to be statistically significant. And the MSM would trumpet it as proof that all gun-control proposals must be enacted posthaste without giving any consideration to the troublesome Second Amendment.

It's notable that virtually no media attention has been given to the pathetic state of criminal record reporting to NICS. All the background checks in the world are worthless if NICS isn't complete and up to date. The Sutherland Springs shooter had a solid criminal record in the USAF justice system, but it turned out that military only reports some 20-30 percent of what it's supposed to. There is some kind of program in place to correct this, but it's virtually invisible. It doesn't make a glamorous news story, so................

I won't hold my breath waiting on anyone in the major media outlets to challenge him on that.

There is absolutely no statistical evidence to support this claim. Guess who will abide by UBC? The already law abiding. What prohibited criminal, will submit to a background check? How will it be enforced? Without gun registration, no one will be able to know, how someone came to be in possession of any firearm. Let's look a a scenario: LEO makes a traffic stop, the driver, has a gun in his/ her possession, they have either a LTC, or they are in a State like Texas, where having the gun in their vehicle is not a crime. The LEO checks the serial number for a possible stolen gun. How will they know, if the person in possession, passed a background check, if it is not stolen, and they are not a prohibited person? The only way to achieve this, is to require registration, and make NICS info available to every PD in the country. UBC sounds good to the SoyBoy sheep, but, the cost alone to achieve compliance would be astronomical. That doesn't even take into consideration those of us who hold a LTC, who are already exempt from a background check. This is just another attempt to disarm the law abiding, by adding additional costs, not to mention, the required enlargement, of government just to try to keep up with the extra paperwork.
Ask Nevada, how their UBC worked out, when the FBI refused to perform the background checks.
