Does anyone know why the price of ammo is to go up 15% or more?

Law, taxes, price of precious metals?

China..."raw materials"

Certain interests want the majority to think its because of a war or something...

Thats a double edge sword of misinformation...

Sure there's a lot of rounds being used all around the world...But why is the price going up if the usage has peaked, and possibly tapering off???

China's recent need for raw materials has dug deep into a lot of markets...

So in my opinion its not that big a conspiracy...We are just going to have to adjust...

Some things to look at...

http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-150368049.html

For example, the price of brass has increased to near $3.00 per pound. Brass was $2.00 per pound in February, and was less than $1.00 per pound in May 2004.

China is going through a lot of changes, they are finally realizing it is more expedient to manufacture, drill and refine domestically, no matter the cost or impact that effort has on the rest of the world...

Its been going on for a few years, and its just now starting to make a reportable (media) impact on the rest of us...Not a lot of people have added it all up...

But like everything else, this is just what I see...

The reloaders in the forum are a leg up on all of us... ;-)

Shipping charges are effecting the rate hike also. http://www.natchezss.com has copies of letters from manufacturers discussing the issue.

Why should we have to pay more because China wants all the metal?

Lets make China pay more so we don't have to!

Export Tax on our metals to China should increase along with our prices to them.

Because we are told we can, and that we have to be nice to the Chinese... ;-)

And that the metals they are getting they are not necessarily getting from us, but that market tends to trickle down to us anyway, so we get stiffed in the long run...Thats why they call it a global economy...

Much of the metals aren't coming from this country, and many are from the 3rd world. The truth is we are paying for buying the Chinese out of the 3rd world by spending our money on Chinese junk. Every time we purchase their cheap guns and poisonous toys, clothing and foodstuffs. We contribute to to their growing economy which is creating the new demands on our oil and other limited resources.

For the record I just went to the Wal Mart in Forney TX and the Price increase has not hit out here yet. I left a couple box's of 9mm on the shelf only cause I ran out of money. 15.49 for the 100rd value packs. 21.99 for the .40 and I think the .45 where 28. Better go get them before they are all sold out.

Just FYI.... If there are any of yall out here in my neck of the woods.

Blazer and Monarch hasn't went up at Academy. I just bought 2000 of 9mm rounds so I'll be set for a couple months. I wanted to buy 4000 rounds but they didn't have that kind of stock on hand.

Prices sure are varying, depending on "where" you are...
