Police dept employee, used a ceramic knife, guessing to get through any metal detectors in police hq.

Just so you know they are adding bit of steel to the Cermaic knives now because of that very reason. Only way I know of is to get one made in China by a pro but when it is delivered [ after 2 months ] check it with a metal detector. And Flint/Chert and Agate and Jasper....etc, etc...
Edged weapons are not to be taken lightly. Obviously some are better than others, but edged weapons have been deadly for thousands of years.
I've taken plenty of Whitetail Deer and Hogs with some pretty primitive stuff I've made. I need no convincing. I certainly wouldn't want to be stabbed/cut with a modern day knife.
