While fire was miles away father went to town to get a trailer to evacuate Family and possessions. Fire moved fast and mother, son, dog and mother’s mother tried to drive out. Fire caught them on the road and vehicle stalled or couldn't move due to melted tires. Mother sent boy and dog to run for it, had to leave her mother as she was too disabled to run.

Father found mother on road after she escaped flames but did not recognize her because she was burned all over.

Boy was later found in driver’s seat with dog on his lap, grandmother in backseat. He apparently went back to try to save her and drive them out.

There is a lot of calamity in the world but this is the saddest story I’ve read in awhile. God bless them and save them all.

Very sad indeed. I understand that these fires can cover some ground quickly, but man seems like you’d really have stuff ready to buy out vs. waiting till it was too late.

Brush and grass fires move half the speed of the wind! I have fought grass fires that if we hadn't been in a brush truck the fire would have just out run us! Attack the head of the fire and then sweep the flanks! Some times this requires multiple repeats as the hot spots reignite and start a new head, foam in the tanks go along way in smothering the hot spots!

Why have the fires stopped before reaching the Canadian border? Could it be blue state management of forests or are they too, Trump's fault?
