Just for grins, I checked my status on the website this morning.
Still shows "manufacturing" even though the plastic is in my wallet!
Don't get hung up on the website status as you might get a surprise before it's updated.
I also think doing the application and payment online speeds the process as you're not waiting on a clerk to input the data from a mailed application.
Having a clean background check probably helps too.

Another July classmate here.
My wife and I took the class July 9 and we got the final paperwork mailed on Thur. July 14. We also had applied and paid online before the class.
Got the return receipt from DPS showing they rec'd it on July 18.
Followed the status on the website and even as of today - July 29 it still shows "in manufacturing" , but our plastic was IN THE MAILBOX when I got home!
Overall, 11 days isn't too bad!
I suspect the website can get behind on status updates.
