STATES ARMED FORCES. Notwithstanding any other provision of this
subchapter, the department shall reduce by 50 percent any fee
required for the issuance of an original, duplicate, modified, or
renewed license under this subchapter if the applicant for the
license is a member of the United States armed forces, including a
member of the reserves, national guard, or state guard.
SECTION 5. This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.

So if I join up in the "Texas State Guard" I can get a 50% reduction in my next renewal...
I've been considering affiliating with that organization for a while...A few people have been bugging me about going ahead and doing that...
The problem is I'm a rust-picker squiddly guy...I don't know much about that Army stuff...And I'm too old to go playing boot camp again...As much as some of you would love to see me ace that program...
