+1 on SRVA's response... Go to a match w/ the intention of "watching" but make sure you take your pistol, belt, holster, 3 mags, mag pouches, 150 rounds of ammo, sun screen, water, ear&eye protection...

Now when you get there to "watch" go to the sign up spot & tell the person taking the money that you have never shot IDPA before... hand him a $20.00 get a score sheet & gear up.

They may/may not have a new-shooters meeting so just let the SO (safety officer) of the squad you are on that you are a new shooter & they will make sure you are not first to shoot the stage!

You will pretty much be able to tell the guys/gals that have been shooting for a while so find one or two & ask questions.

What ever you do... don't forget your gun, ammo, etc!
