Roger That

Roger That!

I was so torqued when they initially pulled my ad that I spent half a day yanking their code from all my sites and subsidiaries. Then I started hunting for another ad revenue resource and found that pretty much all of them have similar policies, some even more restrictive than Google.

I was relieved when they reversed their decision, but then I had to go re-code for another hour to put their stuff back in.

I guess Google is the lesser of the evils right now, and I do understand that they have to watch out for liabilities, what with their deep pockets and short arms and all.

I don't know if my internet tirade about them had any effect on their decision to re-approve my ad, or if level heads just prevailed, but since they admitted that I was in compliance with their rules and they made a mistake, I'm happy to patch things up and keep doing business with them until I find a ad revenue resource that is more amenable to the gun ownership community.

Google Makes Things Right with CHLGrapevine

After a single email to Google and a couple of day's wait, Google sent me this:
Hello Tim,

Thank you for your email. I apologize for the delayed response, and thank you for your continued patience. I understand that you are concerned about the incorrect disapproval of your AdWords ad. I apologize for any frustration this may have caused you. However, please be assured that I have reviewed your account and confirmed that your ad is approved and running on Google.

Our AdWords Specialists review ads that run on Google to ensure that they comply with our advertising policies. I apologize if the prior disapproval of your ad was made in error. However, after reviewing your ad again, our Specialists have found that your ad meets all our Editorial Guidelines and advertising policies.

The Google advertising program is managed by a set of policies which we develop based on several factors, including user and customer experience and legal considerations. We review our policies regularly and make changes to keep them current and effective. Our goal is to have policies that are fair, consistent, and adaptable.

Please feel free to reply to this email if you require any further clarifications.

If you have additional questions, please visit our Help Center at https://adwords.google.com/support to find answers to many frequently asked questions. Or, try our Learning Center at http://www.google.com/adwords/learningcenter/ for self-paced lessons that cover the scope of AdWords.

We look forward to providing you with the most effective advertising available.

Sincerely,

Aparna
The Google AdWords Team
Just to clear things up, I had read their terms of use and made certain I was not violating them with the wording of my ad and the content of my sites. I believe the entire problem resulted from an over-zealous AdWords specialist taking it upon themselves to broaden the terms of the policy against advertising the sale of firearms.
