i'm on a few immigration forums where i discuss this type of thing,
sorry guys,
in your case, it's kind of the same... the US Govt has established a minimum immigration status for gun ownership, and Texas has adopted much the same standard for CHL

I've lived in Texas for 12 years now, was working and visiting for 5 before that... 1 year seems to be the magic number, if you make it for a year, most folks stay...

With all due respect, 6 months is not a long enough trial.

1. It's not.
2. You're rude.
3. I welcome anyone, from anywhere, who wants to partake of Freedom.
Sir..
I also welcome anyone who seeks freedom and the American dream..
However, as the gentleman pointed out:
He's been here 6 years, on a dependant visa not working, or working illegally.

Now that he want's one of those freedoms that requires a little more 'skin', he want's to pack up go home. It seems that applying for 'resident legal alien' or earning citizenship is more than he feels he can do, and therefore he does not meet the requirements. Choices have consequences, I tell my kids everyday.

if the H-4 visa is a not a permanant 'green card' visa, that's probably your issue.. http://www.nrilinks.com/Immigration/VisaTypes/h4.htm

it appears to be some kind of 'dependant' visa for wives and children..
