Good advice, but I'll add that we're talking about silhouettes seen at 7-15 yards, so 72dpi is sufficient.

Wide printers and big images burn up a ton of consumables; no need to use more than absolutely necessary. If a lo-rez pass isn't sharp enough, $0.0000001 worth of Sharpie ink traced around the outline would do more good than hi-rez printing.
