You want the Firearm Owners Protection Act (FOPA) repealed!!? You can't be serious.
It's not just FOPA: it's FOPA/MGB. The same law that tosses us a bone (the right to transport firearms that are unloaded and securely cased) also imposed the very first ever federal gun ban.

For that reason (amongst others), the 1986 law is unconstitutional, and should be overturned.

No, I don't want to return to the days when travelers were thrown in jail for having an unloaded, securely cased, firearm in their trunk. But I do want to return to the Constitution.

I know, it's a quaint notion, enjoying little favor these days. Ron Paul seems to be the only current politician who understands that the Constitution is binding, even when it's not popular.

To be truthful, I think he probably represents the average NRA member better than Nugent.

If we took a vote of 100% of the membership, I suspect the majority would rather preserve .30-30s and sixguns and hunting rights, than would support repeal of NFA'34 and GCA'68. Not to mention FOPA/MGB'86.

The large BoD (typically 75 members) can work in our favor, because the bigger the mass, the more force that must be applied to overcome inertia. That means they're slow to respond to the popular tide. Since the popular tide is often against our interests, that's a good thing.

The bad part of such a large board is that most of them are virtually unknown to the membership. There are occasional celebrities like Ted Nugent, or well known public figures like Larry Craig (thankfully I haven't seen any major news outlets point out his NRA status in his recent bad publicity.)

Other than that, the BoD are mostly elected just by being on the ballot. The nominating committee obviously plays a very important role here.

And then there are some folks who like to stir the water come election time, like Mike Haas and his "NRA Winning Team!"

Speaking of the Board of Directors... is there anywhere online that lists the current board members? The NRA website doesn't list them (and they have a horrible website in general).

It's an old video clip. I remember a minor stink at the time. He didn't get the full Zumbo treatment. He also failed to learn anything from it, unlike Zumbo.
