Tactical Vest
I have worn a vest of some type almost all of the time, whether I am carrying or not, since well before I got my CCW permit. About the only exception are those days that are so cold as to require a heavy jacket. Usually even in the winter I will wear a vest in preference to a jacket, keeping the jac...

Would be better if it had a flashlight instead of a useless lazer The camera has both a tactical light and a laser (or neither) which can be set to come on in any combination. The system shown on Fox looked smaller than the picture in the website, and the man said that they are looking at developin...

Re: Ported barrels
Ported barrels are more effective with the higher pressure rounds. I would not expect much difference with a 9 mm or .45 ACP ported barrel, but the difference is quite dramatic if firing major factor .38 super in the IPSC race guns, or firing .41 Rem mag or .44 Rem Mag cartridges. My only ported gun...

Re: Disappointing 1st time at the range with Kimber Ultra Ca
I don't know if it would have made a difference but I did not strip and clean it before taking to the range. I won't get terribly concerned until I get at least 500 rounds through it but I hope it gets better soon. BTW, this was shooting 230 grain ball ammo through it. I haven't even tried any holl...

JSC does have its own SWAT Team, but who doesn't? See http://www.jsc.nasa.gov/roundup/online/2005/0805_p8_11.pdf . The Federal faciity from which I retired has their own armed security force including swat team. This security force won several competitions, and was always rated highly. After 9/11, ...

Skipprr: About the same thing happened to me. I was sitting in the living room watching TV when the doorbell rang. I got up and answered the door with my Norinco in an OWB holster. The man at the door was an FBI agent doing a security clearance interview on my neighbor. He just looked at the pistol,...

Re: Considering a Walther PPK for CCW
I have been stressing trying to conceal my 45s without having to layer up. I have a coupple of good holsters and a darn sturdy belt. I like the way the PPK .380 feels but I have never shot one and know nothing about their reliability. I have a Walther PP in .32ACP, and it is a nice pistol; I have c...

Re: Concealed carry that isn't really all that concealed
Is it just me, or do some people practically advertise the fact that they'e carrying a gun even though the actual weapon itself is not visible? I've noticed this over the years since Texas started issuing CHL's and it seems like lately I'm seeing more and more people that, by their manner of dress,...

re: Fingerprints
When I applied for my chl my fingerprints (taken by a PD trained instructor) were rejected. I then went to the TxDPS office to be reprinted - and was rejected again. The third time I went to the security office for the federal facility that I worked at to have them taken electronically. Two differen...

re: BP Pistol
I forgot to add that Dixie, although having a wide variety of BP guns and accessories, is fairly high priced if you can find the same thing from another source.

BP Pistol
I basically started my shooting career with black powder weapons, although I shoot mostly modern guns today. I currently have a flintlock rifle in .54 caliber, and smoothbore musket in 12 ga. I also have a double rifle/shotgun in 16 ga. percussion. My pistol is a Hawkin replica with about a 10 inch ...

I can sympathize with your difficulties in finding an IWB holster that is comfortable for a large man as I am 6'0'' and nearly 400 lbs. I do not carry a SIG, but I do carry a Kimber 1911 in a Kramer horsehide IWB and have carried it all day with only minimum discomfort from the hammer digging into m...

.40 Cal
I know that perceivedrecoil is largely subjective, but many people find the recoil of the .40 S&W to be much sharper than that of the .45 ACP. The original poster stated that he was beginning to have trouble with the recoil of a .45 ACP in extended range sessions, therefore he may want to avoid ...
