Re: Bad Experience

Well spoken, brainman!

There are times when 'pride comes before a fall' and/or when 'discretion is the better part of valor'. This situation strikes this OWG as a time when both of these maxims would apply.

If you're a guest in his place of business, he has every right to ask the question, and also to refuse service to anyone.
Works for the home/house where you might be visiting, also.

But not always correct. I recall a few decades ago when some legal wizard at Bonanza Steak House corporate got a great idea one day and looked up to see if Sizzler had properly filed to cover its trademarks. Glory Be! They had not. So he filed for those trademarks, then wrote a letter to Sizzler informing them that Bonanza owned the Sizzler trademarks, and please commence remitting royalties or refrain from use forthwith, etc etc.

A lawyer at Sizzler got this unhappy letter and was devastated, but then went to the trouble to look up Bonanza Steak House's trademarks, which had not been protected either, so he claimed them, then offered to trade.

So you can't assume that just because they have lawyers they know what they are doing is legal, proper, etc.
I believe the operative word here is, "assume" when broken down phonetically is well...er, uh ...you know.

CCreyeder wrote:I've often had a question that reading this topic has brought back to mind...

I understand once a person has been given verbal notice that they must leave the premises or be in violation. For sure, lets say for example the "person in charge" comes up and says "hey, I noticed your gun when your shirt came up and I am asking you to leave" kind of scenario.

But, what about in a case where that person doesnt know for sure: just thinks, assumes, guesses, etc. Nothing illegal about lying to a store manager is there? Could you say to the manager, "well, what you THINK or ASSuME is not my concern" and then if asked to prove it let them know you dont have to prove anything to them? Then, finish your meal ASAP and boogie on outta there lol

I dont know, my gut tells me that that would be a no go. Personally, I think if "management" says I must leave if I am carrying, regardless of whether or not THEY know, since I know, then, as the Borg say, "resistance is futile"

However, it's a question I've often pondered, so I thought I would throw it out there for discussion.....
My Momma (R.I.P.) always told me, among other things, if I had to ask, I probably knew the answer. YMMV.

Jim Beaux wrote:GT the more I think about your experience the madder I get. The manager must think he is some kinda kahuna to approach you and speak to you about what he assumes you may be wearing. If you werent causing any trouble or drawing attention to yourself he should take a flying leap. He was just wanting to flex his rinky dink "boss" authority.

I think I would have asked him just what the deal is....has he considered that I may be wearing an insulin pump, or other life support system? I would indignantly refused to discuss with him what I was wearing and that also includes the type of underwear I may or may not be wearing.

I would then tell him, if you want me to leave I certainly will, but before I do I want your name and your regional manager's name and phone number.

Cheap lesson buddy, chalk it up to the cost of wisdom. :thumbs2:
:headscratch Did the manager see the "bulge" or was the manager responding to what the server reported?

I can put it in my jeans pocket, slacks, anywhere, and nobody knows. If you need more than a .380 inside Hooters, everyone is in trouble. Consider a P238 and never be bothered again by snoopy managers.

I never said I "need" my glock inside hooters, but if it is my gun of choice and I can properly conceal it, which is the issue here, then we have no issue. I've done is pleanty of other times in and out of hooters, but there is always that one time...

:eek6 Lightbulb! Maybe it's not the gun, maybe it's not the manager; could it be the hooters?

Re: Bad Experience

"Concealed is concealed" or did someone say that already? From what I've seen/read here, Hooters was/is not the problem. Try MacDonalds next time....better yet, go to Sonic.

Me, I ain't a Hooters kinda' guy.

Last Popeye's I had was in Kandahar. Pretty terrible, I haven't been to one in the States in years though "rlol"

I don't like loud places either. Bone Daddy's BBQ tends to be that way, but their food is bleh so I don't go anyway.
I've never been to the POPEYES in Kandahar, but the one in Vicksburg  is a must stop whenever we pass through.

Be safe.

You sure about that? Based on what you posted had you refused to leave and/or put your gun I your vehicle you'd be I violation of PC 30.06 Criminal Trespass by CHL ... the business is NOT required to post a sign; they can give you "effective notice" orally and it's just as legally valid as a sign.

Next time, don't argue, don't discuss, just get up and leave. If you want to comply by storing your gun in your car and the return that's up to you.

And also, might want to improve your concealment. If a restaurant manager can spot your gun, it may be more obvious of a "bulge" than you think.
Right on, A-R! :iagree:
