I do know you can safely skip Collector's and Carter's if you're looking for bargains.
:iagree: When I was looking for a Beretta 92FS last year I bought a new one cheaper at Academy than what Carter's Country wanted for a used one.
That's typical. My son and I were out at Cabellas in Ft Worth last weekend. they were selling used glocks for 475.00. They were in different calibers. I didn't look hard because it wasn't worth it. That was with no night sights...just plain Glocks. I purchased a brand new Glock at a Dallas gun show...Glock 19 for 489.00 about 8 months ago. My son bought his Glock...brand spanking new at Academy in Houston for 489.00 about a year ago. In a person to person deal one saves the tax...but when the tax is being charged, why buy used so one can only save 30 bucks or so? I have purchased used weapons from individuals and only saved maybe 75 bucks or so...but I also saved the tax. Some think there is a certain benefit to not being on record as the owner of the weapon. I used to think this...then I got old and quit caring what the government knows about me.
