GOT IT TODAY!!!!!



Just so other will not have to panic like I did. I was told that the plastice was mailed on July 30th. I get it today and it is postmarked August 12th. I have seen others who have received plastic three days after status change. For me it was 17 days. But it looks like for everyone the actual mail time is running about three days from postmark.

Thanks for the reply. My understanding is that you have to have your license on your person while carrying. If I am wrong I sure do want to know. My concern is that if I have any encounter with LEO and don't have it on me there could be possible trouble. I sure don't want that after coming this far. Anybody else out there have any insights on the law regarding this?

Pims14, I hope yours comes sooner than Mine. I have been told that mine was completed July 30 and mailed that day or the next. As of today, I still have not received the plastic. I called and talked to Simone at DPS today. She was extremely helpful, very nice and very sympathetic to my agitation for having to wait so long. (No worries, I was very nice to her and we had a very good conversation) She told me to expect to wait 10-14 business days before I begin to worry. There is nothing she can do until 30 days have passed and then can request to reissue if needed.

I cannot say enough good about Simone... all should ask for her when calling!! She gave me her direct line number and told me to call her with updates if I still don't get it soon. She said that it could take another 45 days after the 30 day waiting period to reissue (let's hope it does not come to that!!!). She said that if it does come to that she would do everything she could to personally walk it through. I guess this is a good test in patience. There is nothing more I or anyone else can do at this point.

Just checked the mail today and still no plastic. It has been 11 days for me since status changed to completed application and still no plastic!! Is there anyone else out there for whom it has taken that long to get plastic in hand? I am about to lose my mind here waiting on the mail. I called yesterday they confirmed that it was mailed July 30th?!! Am I the only one or are others having the same issues.

Congrats Kman!!! I opened the mailbox this evening and.................still waiting. That's ok I hope to be legal by Saturday. All of my fellow churchgoing CHL holders are wondering when their backup will be in place and I am eager to get to Wally world. I hope this week!!

Thanks Kman. I hope I did not give the impression that I was rude in any way. I have been very nice and so have the call center folks. I asked the same questions several different ways to try to get an answer to no avail. I am a very patient person but I do like to be able to know what is going on. No information or small amounts of it are what tend to bother me. If they were able to say we'll have it to you this week or next I'd be fine with it and go on my merry way, but as it stands I have no idea when the thing will get to me and I am traveling this week and would like to be a law abiding and protected citizen as I do it. I guess we'll all have to wait and be as patient as we can be. I've lived 41 years without it and a few more days (Weeks?!!) won't hurt anything. Be safe out there.

I understand the frustration. You really want to get frustrated.....listen to what happened to me today. As is now my daily custom, I called DPS hoping to reach Heather or Simone or someone who has been helpful to others in the forum but no luck on that. Anyway, I get a guy who tells me that EVERYTHING is back and all looks ok and that there is nothing more that needs to be done on my application. So I ask when I should have plastic in hand and he tells me that I should call in about a week to see. At this point I am to the point of flabergasted,frustrated, speechlessness. I ask if there is some sort of button he can push to get this thing activated and mailed to me and of course he says there is no way he can do that. So I ask how long I should expect to wait and he tells me that if status hasn't changed to check back in a couple of weeks. Unbelievable. So I will call again tomorrow in hopes of getting a different voice and some more information.

I called DPS today and talked to a guy who tells me that all background checks have returned and everything looks good BUT to check back in TWO WEEKS to see if there are any changes. I asked what else was neeed and he said nothing. As far as he could see everything was in order. I am hoping that I just got the canned response and will see a change in status soon.

Congrats Stroke. You have almost the same time frame as me so I am hoping that this will be the week. I have called a few times and always get a different person but they all tell me every thing is in order and they are only waiting on the state background to come back. They do tell me that the license has been sent to imaging but the status on line just stays the same.."processing application". I guess I will call again on Monday to see what is up. From what everyone is saying, Heather is the one to talk to but I never have been able to reach her. Let us know how first time out goes.

Just over 80 days! So it might be worth it to give them a call -800-224-5744 and tell them you are checking on the status of your application. They will ask for your SS# and then tell you exactly where the process is. I'll be in here until my license arrives and then off to WAL-MART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I took your advice and called DPS they tranfered me to Heather she is a VERY NICE person. She is going over to get some # from the finger print guy and she will Issue my license and send it. OOOPS, she just called she got the # from the guy in fingerprints and SHE IS DROPPING IT IN THE MAIL RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!! Its kinda funny because I read her the post from "2001stroke" and told her how popular she is or will become and she had no Idea about the forum, but now maybe she will be checking in with us and actually be on "Our Side". WALLY WALK HERE I COME!!!!

I saw your post this morning and tried to reach Heather. No luck on that but spoke to a guy who said that my license has been sent to "imaging" and that they are only waiting on the final background from the state. I hope to be joing the Wally Walk very soon. From what others are reporting it looks like we may be really close!

Just over 80 days! So it might be worth it to give them a call -800-224-5744 and tell them you are checking on the status of your application. Congrats. Your time frame is almost exactly the same as mine. I hope that I will be able to join you in Wal-Mart soon.

This is my first post and thought I would throw in my 2 cents. Completed CHL Class April 25th and immediately mailed packet in. May 5th the check cleared the bank (very good about getting that done!!! ) NOTHING until yesterday, July 15th, after calling my state rep for assistance two weeks ago and sending several emails requesting a pin #, I finally got a pin number last night via email and checked status which said application was in process. Checked again today and it said that there was NO APPLICATION ACTIVE!!!! I called again today and they told me that the web site is "having problems." They were able to confirm on the phone (finally, after 80 Days) that I have an active application, all paperwork is in order and they are awaiting background results. They said to check back in a "couple of weeks". I did not anticipate all the delay but it does sound like we are getting close!! Would really like to hear if your story is similar.
