Good point, I think I cried like a little girl.

I distinctly remember thinking that I could have "fought through" the first 5-10 seconds of the "burning", but the difficulty breathing is what concerned me most. I also tried to "rub" the spray away from my nose, which only served to make things worse.

We did not have to wait for the effects to wear off, and were allowed to "rinse off" after 30 seconds (which didn't help all that much). I'll never be sprayed a second time, I can tell you that!!

These folks have a good civilian program too.

I do not believe that statement to be true.I am sure that small lungs might take it a little harder, but extreme pain is universal. I am a pretty big fellow and I have been exposed to OC on at least 50 occasions. It never hurt less one time than the other. Of course the amount of it you are exposed to is directly related to the amount of pain felt, but a drop smeared under a big fella's eye will make a believer out of him.

Over a few years I was able to build up a certain amount of tolerance to CS and CN tear gas, but the OC always ruined my day!

I think the stuff is wonderful and we should all be carrying it! It has saved my life on numerous occasions.

Agreed.

I'm 6'-5" and 260 lbs, and the stuff absolutely ruins my day. I've only been sprayed once with the "real deal" when I was being OC certified, but I remember it well.

There are "inert" formulas available for training that are not bad....but "real live" pepper spray is most unpleasant if you've been hit in the eyes, nose, mouth.

I could have written this myself. Exactly the same in our household.
