I agree with this. I'm looking for a used .30-30 lever gun for a trunk gun for partly this reason.Rex B wrote:That's just way too nice for a trunk gun. I have a Marlin 1894 in .357, but wouldn't use it for this. The main purpose I see for a trunk gun is to do something that your carry or car handgun can't. While a .357 carbine can reach out further than a handgun, it can't reach as far as a true rifle caliber. Rifle calibers can also penetrate soft body armor, which, as the Tyler courthouse shooting taught us, could be a consideration in a self-defense shooting.
