Good for you! Just hope your plastic comes fast. Supposed to be REALLY cold here in a few days. You might need to break out more than the Coleman stove!

Made my day for sure!

Sounds like it was a long hard road for you by what you sig says. But, at least you have now been rewarded for your patience! Glad to know that the HEB and Target were safe for all the patrons there. Did you snap any pictures of your outing?

It was a frustrating experience and I was <this> close to just lumping it all and just going for the Utah license. I will spare everyone the recap of my woes previously detailed here, but I have never encountered such insanity in my life.

Sadly no photos. Was shopping all by myself and didn't want to draw attention by snapping my own photos while I perused the merchandise. Don't think I am official yet anyhow - haven't been to WallyWorld!

Thanks. I cannot tell you how angering it was to look and see November and December applicants getting their plastic in record time while some of us had to sit and stew.

I still swear there is one person at DPS processing who spends more time updating their Facebook page than processing apps - that would be the person who was charged with mine, ExMarlboroMan's, etc.

Venturing out into the world today for some post Christmas shopping - gift cards burning a hole in my pocket. Hhhmmm...one of them is for WalMart too.

Re: September 2009 Applications

Ok - my stalking of the mailman officially ended yesterday. Plastic safely ensconced in my purse and working hard to forgive the snarky "well, now you can go around like Billy the Kid" comment from my DH. He just doesn't get it. :confused5

So, now we wait for the good news from ExMarlboroMan and all the other September "patience of Job" sorts!

Re: September 2009 Applications

Well...Santa didn't bring me my plastic. It's getting cold outside and since mail won't run tomorrow, I have come in from camping by the mailbox until after Christmas. ;-)

With that said - MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!! Hope everyone gets a special surprise and has a wonderful time with their loved ones.

Hope I did the youtube link below correctly - if I managed to, enjoy!

Re: September 2009 Applications

Well...as of 0930 this morning, online status shows "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active". If it shows up in the mail before Friday, I just may start believing in Santa Claus again. :smilelol5:

jsimmons, ExMarlboroMan and anyone else still waiting.....what is your status this morning?

Re: September 2009 Applications

Thanks guys....but I remain cynical. When it shows up in the mailbox, I will believe it. Until then, I am not holding my breath. It could show up tomorrow or Monday, it could not.

When I was talking to my friend earlier, she said she in October and November she was making calls for people who had applied in April and May. I seriously think there is someone or someones at the DPS who are doing an incredibly slipshod job of processing apps. Like I said the other day, there are those in that office who are diligently processing apps and there are those who are too occupied updating their Facebook pages and don't let work interfere with their social lives. Might be a few anti-gunners in there goofing off to deliberately muck up the works as well.

Re: September 2009 Applications

Amazing what "friends in high places" can accomplish. Just heard back on my status - according to my friend, I am "golden". HA! She says DPS told her my license was active and mailed on Tuesday. Amazing....a week ago yesterday they were having problems with my background check. Should be in my mailbox soon - but I am not holding my breath. Call me cynical.....

Re: September 2009 Applications

ExMarlboroMan wrote:ES4Me - Make that phone call! Get em on the ball!
I just made the call. Old friend of mine who works in my state reps office was just laughing because she knows where and who I work for. I can run a thorough background check on myself in under 5 minutes and the DPS can't get it done in a couple of months??? If this doesn't produce anything, I do have a direct link to the Gov's office and that will be my next step. I just hate to call those political chips when I might need them for something "bigger". :grumble

We'll see what shakes out......

Keep plugging away ExMarlboroMan! I am hoping Santa leaves a very nice surprise in your mailbox soon!

Oh I am hanging in! I am now checking the DPS website at least ten times a day. Tomorrow, I am making my phone call to friends in higher places than me to see what they can get done.

psehorne wrote:Monday 12/14/2009: Plastic in Hand
YEA psehorne and Tha_Veteran!! :clapping: Another two through from September....how many more to go??

I just remembered this evening that everything truly horrible in my life has happened in September. I hadn't thought of it in the context of my CHL app. I lost my best friend who lived across the street from me in an ugly train accident when I was 6; lost a very dear friend in a freak accident on Friday, September 13...which so happened to be he and his wife's wedding anniversary; lost grandfather who meant the entire world to me in September; had another friend die of cancer in September.....and of course we all remember September 11. Every year, I dread the arrival of September and hold my breath until the month passes. Heck, I was even supposed to be born in September but guess I was a bit wise to the month and arrived in late August. I should have known better than to send my blasted CHL app in SEPTEMBER!!! :cryin
