Re: Wanted to say hello to everyone

Oh dear. Perhaps we should spread the word and inform others who haven't visited this thread about our new pot-stirrer?
There's really no point in arguing with someone who comes only to start trouble. Someone who genuinely wants to debate may learn something new, but someone who just wants to point fingers and call names never learns anything but how to get under people's skin. Don't provide him with ammunition for the next forum he visits...

Anyone breaking into my home is committing one crime. One crime is enough to make me think they would commit another. Even if they are only intending to commit a burglary, there is no guarantee that circumstances and intentions won't change as the burglary progresses.
Anyone breaking in to MY home after MY property or body WILL be shot. I would never suggest that I want to shoot another human being, but I will lay it down in stone that my body and property is worth protecting. Any good burglar in the state of Texas knows the gun laws and knows the risk they're taking by breaking in to a home. If they're willing to risk their life and the homeowner is willing to take it...so be it.

That would be comparing apples and oranges, so I cannot relate my views to street racing. I was talking about the reasons I own guns and how I feel about using one in the event of a face-to-face confrontation, not the broader topic of scenarios where my life is in danger.
Also, the link you posted would not load so I can not give my opinion on it.

Re: Wanted to say hello to everyone

I agree, I think that among those carrying a weapon there should be more concern for life than one's own. That said, I also believe that if someone threatens my life, they have decided that neither their life nor my life is important to them and would not hesitate to shoot in defense of my life - because I care about my life, even if my attacker does not.

I have never been forced to draw on another human being and I hope I don't ever have to. I know that presented with a living, breathing human and not a paper silhouette I would have a surge of emotion (especially in the aftermath)...but I also know that should it be a life-or-death situation I would choose my life over an attacker's.

I would like to add that I've always been taught/told that in Western days it was actually very common to shoot another man in the back. They didn't have honorable "quick draw" shoot outs like in the movies. ;)

Welcome to the forum and I'm glad you joined! Hope to see you around frequently.
