:iagree:
I just wanted to make sure that the potential for a KB with reloads and/or lead bullets was noted. It can happen in 9mm (although .40 does seem to be the most common), or any other caliber as well, but it doesn't necessarily mean it will. Just making the point in case anyone was unaware. :tiphat:

I will reload for it.
Umm... I would advise against reloading using cases fired from this or any other gun (for use in your Glock). A Glock has an unsupported chamber and the case will bulge to the point of making it unsafe to reload. Any reloaded ammo is potentially unsafe in a glock because of the unsupported chamber. Look up Glock KB (Kaboom). If you custom load with new cases, things should be fine for you as long as you use jacketed bullets to custom load with. Remember lead will foul the bore of a hexagonal rifled barrel and cause a KB as well. If you knew this already, I apologize for this post, but I want to make sure no one gets hurt because I failed to open my mouth, or in this case keyboard. :tiphat:
So do most 1911s have unsupported chambers on the bottom at the feedramp. You don't see very many 1911 kabooms. I'm not touting the superiority of the design. I'm merely pointing out that as long as you load to saami specs, you're not likely to experience kabooms. If you exceed saami specs, then you may well experience one. Lots and lots of people reload for Glocks without any difficulty at all - including Marty, Crossfire's husband, who a certified Glock armorer AND a reloading guru.
I agree that if you keep loads in saami specs in theory you shouldn't have too many problems. All Browning design pistols have some level of unsupported chamber. However a Glock has much less support around the cartridge than many other guns with tighter tolerances. The Glock was made to eat just about anything you feed it. In order to do this the chamber was modified to have a more open unsupported area. If you aren't careful when checking your cases for reloading you can have the possibility for a KB even if loaded to saami specs. Most people that reload for their Glock use an aftermarket barrel with standard rifling and a more supported chamber. I was just wanting to point out that a stock Glock with a factory barrel, wouldn't be the best choice to reload for in terms of safety. I'm not saying that a KB will always happen if you put a reloaded round into the chamber. I just want to point out that it is much more likely with a factory barrel and reloads. Sorry if I was unclear in my previous post :tiphat:

Re: Glock 19

The G19 is my carry gun of choice. If you get the stock steel sights or night sights you should be fine. If you get the stock polymer sights, just go and pick up some night sights for it later. Any of the sights from the factory will work out good for you aside from the factory adjustable sights. I've never had a problem with any of the stock sights in terms of accuracy. I don't recommend adjustable sights for a carry gun especially on a Glock. DON'T get the Glock factory adjustable sights, they are flimsy at best, and prone to breakage. Glocks are great guns and the G19 is one of the best that Glock makes. Hope that helps :tiphat:
